The country’s relations with neighboring India have deteriorated since the Bangladeshi riots in July last year. As a result, India stopped issuing visas to Bangladeshi citizens for medical treatment. In addition, those who want to go to Europe in the hope of better education, such as Finland, Australia and Mexico, were also prevented from obtaining visas from India. As a result, the future of millions of students began to be in doubt.

More than 5,000 students from Bangladesh travel to Australia for higher education every year. In addition, a large number of tourists and business people from the country regularly travel to Australia. Keeping them in mind, the Australian government has agreed with the interim government on visa processing for Bangladesh.

This news was confirmed to Bangladesh on Thursday by Nobel laureate Dr. Mohammad Yunus. He also informed Australian Foreign Minister Tony Burke that the Australian government has decided to make visas easier for Bangladeshi students. It is worth noting that this year, almost 100 percent of all students who applied for visas to Australia from Bangladesh have received Australian visas.

A shining example of which is the opening of visa centers in Dhaka by European countries and today Australia opened their visa center in Dhaka.

Yet, a few months ago, some statesmen thought that if they stopped visa processing for Bangladeshi citizens, maybe Muhammad Yunus would do as they said. But Muhammad Yunus did not let that happen, but walked the opposite path. Similarly, he is keeping the UK, France, Germany and other European countries under Bangladesh’s control. Although it is still uncertain what will happen to Bangladesh’s relationship with the United States, perhaps Bangladesh will win the ultimate victory here too due to Yunus’ diplomatic strategy.
