I am a student and currently studying engineering. I always wanted to write something related to global affairs. That's why I chose this profession.

Refugee is a word that no one would want to use voluntarily. Yet the number of refugees is rising day by day around the world. In fact, there may be many logical reasons behind the increase in the number of refugees. Notable among them are internal problems in some countries of the world and attacks by foreign powers.

However, whatever the main reason, no one would want to become a refugee of their own free will. In the past, the number of refugees was not as high as what the world was witnessing in the late 20th century and the 21st century. The first large refugee group in history began during the First World War. Since then, this trend has not stopped, and there are problems in some parts of the world. As a result, thousands of people are regularly losing their homes and becoming homeless. But where is the solution to this refugee problem?

Who are refugees?

To be honest, there can be several definitions of a refugee and they can vary from person to person. However, generally speaking, a refugee refers to someone who has been forcibly displaced from their home country. For example, if someone lives in a country and due to some internal problems in that country, the government or other groups forcibly persecute them and the people with them. As a result, they have to leave that place and can never return. Basically, such people are called refugees according to the modern definition.

There is another type of refugee who lives in poor countries. But wants to escape from that country and migrate to another country in the hope of a better life. For example, currently, a large number of people from Africa migrate to Europe by sea just in the hope of a better life. Such people are also kept on the list of refugees and even the European Union has the largest number of such refugees.

What are the main reasons behind the refugee influx?

Refugees are trying to enter in Europe

There may be many reasons behind the increase in the number of refugees around the world. However, the most common reason is the struggle for power in some specific regions and internal political instability. For example, in the civil war in Syria, when the people protested against the government, the government also took strict measures against the people. As a result, a civil war began throughout Syria. Although the Syrian civil war is ending, the country still has many obstacles to overcome. During the civil war in Syria, millions of Syrians entered Europe through Türkiye, and Germany in Europe offered them asylum as refugees.

There are some poor countries in Asia and Africa where the standard of living is very difficult. The people of those countries risk their lives to cross the ocean and try to enter Europe or America. However, in most cases, their attempts are not successful and they are lost at sea. However, the number of such refugees is the largest in the world and Italy, Germany and France are the main destinations for refugees.

Another type of refugee is someone who seeks political asylum in another country, not because of any internal problems or poverty, but because of the fear of political persecution. For this, the person has to file a case in the courts of the European Union countries and provide sufficient evidence. If the judge thinks that the person really poses a threat to his life or if he returns to the country, he may be subjected to persecution by the ruling party. Then basically such people are accepted as refugees and eventually granted citizenship.

The impact of refugees

To be honest, the impact of refugees is felt all over the world. In many cases, it has a good impact, while in many cases it has a negative impact. Its impact is being observed in both economic and social aspects. For example, many countries in Europe are currently experiencing a huge economic crisis. The additional burden of refugees is partly responsible for this. Moreover, refugees are not familiar with the culture of those countries, so they engage in anti-cultural activities without understanding who they are.

Refugees have many positive effects, such as many skilled people often take refuge in different countries as refugees. As a result, that country benefits economically and otherwise from skilled people. For example, in the United Kingdom, where 2 percent of the main population of England is Pakistani, more than 5 percent of the total doctors in England are doctors of Pakistani descent. Moreover, in many countries, engineers from India and other countries are playing a more important role than the local population in engineering.

What can be the solution to this problem?

UN peacekeeping mission

Analysts disagree on whether there is a solution to this problem. However, everyone agrees that if peace could be established throughout the world and all kinds of conflicts and differences could be resolved, perhaps the number of refugees would decrease. However, it is absolutely impossible to establish peace in the whole world. Because when the United Nations was established to establish peace in the world after the First World War and the Second World War. Even then, many people might have thought that peace would come to the world. But even then, peace has not been established in the world, rather, countries have been involved in various types of disputes at different times. As a result, many people have lost their lives and many have lost their loved ones.

Another possible solution is if all countries could develop their economies equally. For example, if African countries had the same per capita income as European countries and did not enjoy the same equal rights. Then perhaps they would have no reason to become refugees. So our world’s top leaders should create some rules in economic terms that would benefit all countries equally.

We can only guess what will happen in the future. Maybe the situation will get worse in the future, maybe the situation will get better. Everything will depend on the top leaders of the world and those who give them direction. But we hope that we will be able to solve the refugee problem very soon and establish a peaceful world.
